Anubis installs a real, running server on the machine in front of you — database, framework, admin panel, and a separate development copy you can break without touching the one people play on. It is free, and it is still in development.

The server itself
Downloads the runtime, lays out the folders, writes a working configuration, and starts it. You pick a folder; it does the rest.
The database
Finds MariaDB if you already have it, installs it if you do not, creates the database and a user scoped to it, and checks afterwards that the thing it just made is really there.
A DEV copy that is genuinely separate
LIVE and DEV get their own resources folders. Editing a script on DEV leaves LIVE byte-identical — which is the entire point of having a DEV, and is not true of most setups people end up with.
The tools you will need next
A button installs HeidiSQL for looking inside the database, and WinSCP for the day the server moves off this machine. Nothing installs on its own — software lands on your PC because you pressed something.

Anubis sets up a server on the computer you are sitting at. That is the right starting point for testing, for development, and for playing with friends — and it is where almost everyone should begin.
It does not rent you a machine or deploy to one. If your server needs to live somewhere other people can always reach, that is a different job, and one Anubis does not claim to do.
